Becky Griggs, Fitness Trainer, Drops from 352 to 150 Pounds

Becky Griggs is the quintessential exercise success story. She was managing a yarn shop six years ago when she became worried about her rising blood pressure and decided to slim down to save her life.

Now, at 43 years old, Griggs is a fitness trainer who's lost more than 200 pounds, going from 352 at her highest to a healthy 150. She said, "We are taught what is slim and skinny and pretty and right, but in reality, what is fit and healthy is a different thing."

According to CNN.com, Griggs' weight-loss philosophy is pretty simple: calories in versus calories out. She ate five, high-protein meals a day and cut out flour and sugar to create what she calls a "clean" diet -- which is easier said than done, given the number of seemingly healthy foods that contain those ingredients.

Aside from revolutionizing her eating habits, she's also learned to love working out. She personally focuses on (and encourages her students to focus on) losing body fat and gaining muscle. Working as a trainer helps prevent her from sliding back into bad habits. She said, "It's taken time, but I know now that this me is the me who I am, and that fat girl, she is not me anymore."

Becky's advice? Get moving. Find people with similar goals who can help you achieve your own. And don't listen to your mom when she tells you to clean your plate.
