Caput succedaneum occurs when the scalp is swollen and discolored following vaginal delivery.

Scalp swelling on the initial portion of the head during vaginal delivery.  The swelling  may cross the midline Bluish, discoloration of scalp

It is caused by mechanical injury of the head during delivery.

It usually requires no treatment.

None: It heals spontaneously.

Swelling will spontaneously reduce within 48-72 hours.
