Masturbation

Description

Masturbation is the stimulation of the genitals or other erogenous areas, usually to orgasm, by some means other than sexual intercourse.

Guilt

There is only one evil: guilt. Children are not born with guilt, and generally, parents instill guilt regarding masturbation. Everyone has, at some point, tried masturbation. This is because masturbation is a natural behavior. There is nothing more unfitting than having guilt over something as natural as masturbation.

Reasons for masturbation

The obvious reason is for sexual pleasure. It may not be as pleasurable as intercourse, but it is the next best thing. During puberty, regular sexual partners may be nonexistent or sex may be discouraged by parents, so choices are limited. As the individual matures socially, masturbation subsides and sexual intercourse takes its place. Of course, when there is no sexual partner, masturbation is a natural substitution, for instance, in old age. Thus, the periods of most active masturbation then are during puberty and old age.

When does masturbation begin?

Masturbation can occur as early as age 6 months. Then, by 2 or 3 years of age, it is a habit. After that, there is not much change until the onset of puberty. Generally, little boys masturbate by rubbing their erect penis up and down with their hand; other boys grab and pull on the foreskin or glans of the penis. In rare cases, the boy may rub his penis on the floor or his bed. The girls usually stimulate their clitoris. Most of them usually do not know the existence of the vagina, and stimulate those parts that give them pleasure, generally, by rubbing against a pillow, doll, quilt, or a blanket. Often, a child who does not have friends to play with and spends a lot of time alone, may revert to masturbation. If you do not want your children to masturbate, do not scold or scare them into quitting, but be their friend and spend more time with them.

Do children feel a climax also?

Yes, of course they do, but the climax is a little different than what an adult feels. For children, even just the act of pleasuring themselves by genital stimulation, or understanding the feelings they are experiencing throughout their body, are overwhelming at their age. However, boys, especially, experience nearly the same orgasm as do adults in many cases. By puberty, some girls are also able to feel orgasms.

What happens at puberty?

When puberty sets in, sexual capacity increases due to hormonal changes, and the teenager's impressions of and interest in sex changes greatly. Most boys experience their first real orgasm and a drastic change during masturbation, in which they not only feel an orgasm but also produce semen. In other words, ejaculation occurs. In girls, the clitoris becomes erect, the labia minora fills up with blood, and a general tension builds up in the genitals, thereby sensitizing it. Menstruation also commences, focusing all their attention to the changing body.

How is it done?

In the case of men, many masturbate while fantasizing. In other words, they imagine a sexual situation while stimulating their genitals, be it a person they or a particular sexual act Other sources of visual or aural stimulation, such as pornography or adult videos, are also used. Women stimulate the region directly above the vagina, which causes clitoral erection and the labia minora to fill up with blood. During arousal, the clitoris itself is not touched but areas around it are stimulated. When orgasm is imminent, the index or middle finger is used to stimulate the clitoris. Women with no sexual experience rarely insert anything into the vagina during masturbation.

Breast stimulation

Most women cross their legs and rub their thighs while stimulating their nipples. In this manner, the movements in the pubic area cause the clitoris and the labia minor to be pulled in the opposite direction leading to orgasm.

Sexual toys

The most common thing inserted into the vagina is the finger. The finger is a very versatile tool, in that it can be controlled at will and with great precision. Women know through experience that stronger orgasms are achieved by stimulating the roof of the vaginal wall, which in turn stimulates the clitoris. Although uncommon, many different things are inserted into the vagina such as: a candle, cucumber, carrot, or any other cylindrical object.

Other sexually sensitive areas

On rare occasions, the anus is the site of masturbation. A little worrisome method of masturbation is the stimulation of the urethra. This is done by inserting an object in and out of the urethra to stimulate it. This technique is more common among women because the female urethra is more sensitive and there are more sensitive areas around the urethra that can be stimulated as a result.

Side effects

Men: Heart pressure, such as sharp pain, palpitations, and other heart-related problems may occur, as a result of the sexual satisfaction reached in orgasm; if cleanliness is not maintained, inflammation of the glans penis and the urethra is also possible. Women: The clitoris may get stretched, becoming larger, and the urethra, located between the clitoris and the vagina, may get infected causing inflammation of the urinary bladder. Inflammation of the vagina (vaginitis), and hysterorrhea can also occur. Psychological effects: Due to the guilt and obsession associated with masturbation, the nerves may be weakened to the point of nervous breakdown. Also, other nerve-related problems such as difficult urination (dysuria) and diminished urination (oliguria) might appear.

Cautionary note

# Do it in a private place: Not only is it uncivil, it can be damaging to others if not done in private.
# Use of sexual tools and excessive pressure is not advised: Care should be taken not to damage the genitals by inserting something into the vagina or rubbing excessively against a wall or on the floor. Putting a ring on the genitals or applying Vaseline, can cause infections so caution is advised.
# Always maintain good hygiene: Before masturbation, hands should be clean, and afterwards, proper cleanup measures should be taken. Leftover sperm can be food for bacteria and ticks, so care should be taken to cleanup all areas including blankets and mattress.

Steps toward reduction

# Keep active mentally (arts, creative activities, academic research, etc.).
# Keep active physically (sports, etc.).
# Keep active culturally (movies, theatrical performances, concerts, etc.).

Female masturbation

In the past, sexologists and the general public believed that women did not have sexual desire and, thus, masturbation was considered taboo, especially for women. However, Dr. Kinsey and Dr. Masters of the United States, concluded that sex is a natural act and, therefore, masturbation is a normal part of sexuality and not harmful to the body-for both males and females. Caution should be taken to keep proper hygiene during masturbation. There have been cases of vaginal and urinary bladder infections due to the use of unclean fingers and objects inserted into the vagina. In some instances, women have required a gynecologist to remove foreign objects stuck in the vagina.

Unsound masturbation

There is no medical proof that masturbation does any harm to health or reproductive function, but the truth of the matter is that too much masturbation can reduce sexual pleasure and increase fatigue. A person will realize that if he masturbates many times daily, that his energy is greatly reduced. If the person is healthy, masturbation should not cause loss of energy or a decrease in sexual desire. However, if masturbation has become an obsession, this may be a sure sign of a chronically troubled mind. In this case, orgasms achieved through masturbation are not pleasurable. If masturbation occurs too frequently, if one feels driven into masturbating for some reason, or if life outside of masturbation is in disarray, prompt medical attention is necessary.

Statistics

According to a survey by Dr. Kinsey, 95% of the men and 80% of the women have either experienced or currently practice masturbation. Nearly 80% of the boys learn how to masturbate through their friends by the time they are 15 years old. The first ejaculation it seems is realized through masturbation. Unlike boys, the girls discover masturbation on their own by stimulating their vulva. Although the girls go through puberty and menstruation before the boys, they begin masturbation later than boys.

In the past when sexual expression was discouraged, many misconceptions were spread to sway teenagers away from masturbation. Examples include: masturbation prevents growth, causing dwarfism, masturbation causes brain damage, loss of sexual desire, a change in sexual preference, or early death. These are all misconceptions. There is no absolute rule governing the frequency of masturbation; however, since it generally takes 3-5 days for sperm to regenerate, a frequency of 1-2 times a week is believed to be proper. However, this may vary depending on age. During puberty, 3-4 times a week should be enough to quell the brimming sexual desires of a teenager. However, doing it 3-4 times daily can interfere with daily activities. Therefore, it is necessary to regulate the frequency of masturbation. Rather than trying to stop it altogether, try to figure out why masturbation occurs, and look for other things to substitute in its place. For example, reading a book, listening to music, or talking to a friend on the phone can be other options.
