The third season of Puteri Gunung Ledang: The Musical is played out in all its glory.
Poor Gusti Putri. Not only does her brother promise her hand to someone without so much as a “May I?”, her beloved Hang Tuah decides that his Sultan is more important than her. In short, she’s been pushed around by men her whole life. Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina stars as Gusti Putri and Stephen Rahman-Hughes as Hang Tuah. But you forget that this princess is no fragile fairy-tale beauty. She doesn’t need a handsome warrior to save her, and she doesn’t succumb to her fate quietly. When all the men in her life seem more focused on their own goals, this Puteri Gunung Ledang takes matters into her own hands. And when her patience wears thin, watch out for explosions!!
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. The setting for all this drama is, of course, Puteri Gunung Ledang: The Musical (PGLM), currently having its third run at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.
Watching Puteri Gunung Ledang: The Musical (PGLM), one can’t help but be proud of the heights the show has achieved. All those involved seem to have put their heart and soul into it, and the result is a musical that is comparable to international-standard shows.
